PMI-RSS February 2021 Chapter Meeting with Marianne Bell

Leadership

How to motivate your team during times of change with Marianne Bell, MBA, PMP.

Presentation Abstract:  As project managers and leaders, we know the most effective way to create the change required to realize an organization’s strategy is through projects yet according to a 2019 international survey of 1,636 executives sponsored by the PMI’s Brightline Initiative, only 1 out of 5 organizations achieve 80% or more of their strategic intent.

In their free online course on how to turn ideas into results, Brightline suggests the cause of this gap between the design and delivery of strategy is not a problem with how we execute the projects but with human behaviour. They say, in order to deliver stellar results, people need to be hyper-aligned and laser-focused on their highest-impact actions that will drive the organization’s most important outcomes. This is easier said than done, especially during these times of change to a digital workplace where people are feeling disconnected and dis-engaged from the projects they are working on, according to a recent Harvard Business Review Article.*

In this presentation, Marianne will talk about how a personal development plan using the Maxwell DISC behavioural report can be an effective way to increase the probability of:

  • retaining dis-engaged team members,
  • building an inclusive team environment and
  • achieving strategic intent.
