PMI-RSSC November Virtual Chapter Meeting with David Gouthro
Presentation Title: Leading in a VUCA World
Abstract: It is relatively easy to appreciate that most businesses are operating in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex & Ambiguous) environment these days; however, it is less clear to see how that awareness translates into becoming a more effective leader in your capacity as a Project Manager. In this highly interactive workshop we will dig deeper into the mindset and skills required to thrive in such a world. Regardless of whether you are a proponent of Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, Six Sigma, Lean, Critical Path Management or some yet-to-become-popular methodology, you are likely to take away some ideas on how you can lead more effectively in any of those environments.
Objective: To build confidence in one’s ability to make more conscious choices regarding the behaviours that are suited for a fast changing world; to get better acquainted with fellow participants; and to have fun (optional, but highly recommended).
Learning Outcomes: Participants will acquire several concepts and terms they may choose to embrace personally and/or apply in their work as a project manager.
Target Audience: Open minded air-breathers
Speaker Bio: David Gouthro, CSP
A seasoned (but not too spicy!) speaker with over 40 year’s experience, David is a sought after consultant who is best known for his creative presentations, playful demeanor, and relentless focus on delivering value to his clients, colleagues and community.
David’s experience comes from working with clients on four continents, in organizations that range from mining, energy, healthcare and financial services . . . to high tech, biotech, government and the not-for profit sector.
As the father of a precocious 21 year old daughter Anna, he has been forced to embrace the qualities of humility, patience, good humour and . . . acceptance of his own parental inadequacies!
The main focus of his current business involves working with individuals and groups who have no one else to point to as excuses for their own inaction. This has led him to spend the majority of his time helping executive teams and Boards make the tough decisions required to grow their businesses in a complex and unpredictable economic environment.
However, his deepest personal passion is to help people discover the courage he believes they all possess—and then inspire them to act on it.
